Columnist Jack Boylston is a retired Memorial Health Executive, and math teacher turned wedding officiate. He lives on Tybee with wife Nancy, and their eight beloved dogs. One of them was a Savannah Beach Chamber of Commerce brochure from the early 1940’s. Jack says he immediately starting thinking of the drastic and not so drastic changes that have taken place on Tybee from that summer ’til the present day.

Tybee Times readers that frequent Doc’s Bar down on Tybrisa, and know how far back it goes might also remember that a place called “Yunk’s” was actually there at the time of that 1940’s printing. Jack copied several of the pages from this brochure he felt some of you might enjoy – if the print’s too small, just zoom in on it, and the photos, too.Jack says to be careful though – some of you might just see yourselves.

(Tybee Jack has been on sabbatical this winter, but will return to his column in the spring.)
