GRAND OPENING – Tybee “Flip Flop” Red Carpet Party Planned!

The long awaited release of Disney/Touchtone Picture’s screen film of Nick Sparks book, “The Last Song” is scheduled for March 31st, and Tybee residents and businesses are celebrating with a “Flip Flop Red Carpet Party!” According to organizer Susan Kelleher this “pre-movie” event will have food, cocktails, live music, red carpets, goodie bags, and all things Tybee.

Kelleher, who organized the event, along with Diane Kaufman, Stacey Jarrell, Brucie Westerman, Shelly Ainsworth, Tina Gann, and Judy Outs says it’s open to all that want to purchase a ticket and participate in the glitz and glam of opening night…Tybee Island style! The Party will be held on March 31st at The Tybee Gym at #7 Fifth Street. It’s hosted by Seaside Sisters Coastal Cottage Shop.

The action starts at 4:30 pm. Cocktails and food will be provided by Papa’s Bar-B-Que and Seafood, Randy “Hatman” Smith will provide the entertainment, and fabulous “swag bags” (“Oskar” style!) donated by area businesses will make this a star-studded night to remember!

At 6:30 pm movie fans will board a trolley, Crab Cab, limo or private car for a glamorous caravan down Highway 80 – including a police escort – off to Victory Square Cinemas, and a big night of watching the “Miley Movie” debut on the big screen!  After the film, guests will again board the trolley and head back to Tybee for more FUN, and a post-film party and “Oskar” awards ceremony at Huc-a-Poos.

As our coastal sea turtles played a large part in “The Last Song,” event organizers have decided that all funds raised, after ticket and transportation costs, will be donated to the Marine Science Center to help cover the costs of an 800-gallon sea turtle tank being installed during the center’s current renovation project. The music, food and cocktails for the event are all being donated or
provided at cost by our local Tybee businesses.

Ticket prices start at $18.00 for the premiere party and movie ticket, and $30.00 for the whole tip top, flip flop package!  But they are really going fast, so don’t wait – call Seaside Sisters to reserve yours today. Don’t miss this chance to be there when the big screen features Tybee Island by name – for the first time ever!!!
