Tybee Island abandons license plate scanner plans – Savannahnow.com

The Tybee Island City Council on Monday voted unanimously to rescind the purchase approval of two license plate scanners it had granted during a Nov. 14 meeting. Citing mostly negative feedback from the public and concerns over how the information from a tourism study being conducted by a local professor, the council instead voted to purchase a higher quality model of the current hose-like vehicle counter the city has stretched over U.S. 80.
