Hands Across the Sand/Land Coming to Tybee Island on May 20th – TheTybeeTimes.net

Tybee Island, GA: A crowd will join hands forming a line across the beach in a local “Hands Across the Sand/Land” gathering; this is one of hundreds of synchronized events globally to raise awareness about the dangers of dirty fuels and the need to speed the transition to available, affordable clean energy solutions. The events are particularly salient this year with the Trump Administration’s vision to “unleash America’s $50 trillion in untapped shale, oil, and natural gas reserves, plus hundreds of years in coal reserves.” This is the opposite of investing in a green energy future and fails to honor international agreements to fight climate change. The impacts of these actions will affect people across the world.

WHO: Citizens from across Coastal Georgia will be joined by members, volunteers, and staff of Center for a Sustainable Coast, One Hundred Miles, Sierra Club, and Surfrider Foundation.

WHEN: Saturday, May 20th at noon

WHERE: Tybee Island – Beach, Pier, and Pavilion

VISIT: Surfrider Foundation for more information
